Access and Accommodations

Access by train:

Hiroshima University can be accessed by shinkansen on the Sanyo/Tokaido line from Higashihiroshima station. There is a bus directly from the station to the university.

Additionally, Saijyo Station is accessible on the Sanyo line from (not the shinkansen!) and also has a bus that runs to the university.

Access by bus from Hiroshima city:

The Hiroshima Bus Center is centrally located in downtown Hiroshima city and offers a bus line directly to the university, which takes approximately one hour. This option provides extra flexibility as well as quick access to historic areas in Hiroshima such as the A-bomb dome, Hiroshima Peace Park, and Hiroshima Castle.

Access by plane:

Higashihiroshima is served by Hiroshima Airport (HIJ), and has several daily flights to/from Tokyo, including on budget carriers. The flight from Tokyo is about an hour and a half. Unfortunately the airport shuttle bus no longer directly goes to Saijyo station, and instead requires a change at Shiraichi station.

Accommodations:

Saijyo station and Higashihiroshima station both have several options for hotels, e.g.:

(Saijyo Sta.)

Hotel Route Inn Higashihiroshima Saijyo Ekimae

Higashihiroshima Green Hotel Morris

(Higashihiroshima Sta.)

Toyoko Inn Higashihiroshima Ekimae

For those choosing to commute by bus from Hiroshima city, there are numerous hotels in the downtown area.
